John T. Mitchell

John Mitchell had over fifteen years of investment experience leading to the formation of MVT, Inc., in 1996. John’s vast legal and investment advising experience includes senior VP and portfolio manager at The Chicago Corporation Asset Management Group where he managed public pension funds, Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois and as Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago. His role at MVT is that of President, Director and Senior Portfolio Manager overseeing the investment of a constantly growing number of institutional and individual investors.
John received his law degree from Lewis University in 1979. He is a current member of the Chicago and Illinois Bar Associations. He has served as a member of the Securities Law Committee and as Chairman of the Financial & Investment Services Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. John has been involved in the drafting of legislation that affects public pension funds over the past two decades as well as a featured speaker at several national and local conferences on pension investment issues as they relate to public safety employees and is actively involved in the educational-based Illinois Public Pension Advisory Committee.
